2011 EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD RECIPIENT,
  VIVIAN BEIERLE

Mission Hills Christian School | Northern California Conference
K-2nd grades
http://www.alumniawards.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Vivian-Beierle_forweb1-280x181.jpgAfter 37 years of teaching kindergarten through second grade, Vivian’s ability to create a fresh, active calendar of events for the school is spot-on. She produces and directs school plays, plans activities such as gold panning, archaeological digs, and Christmas caroling outreach. Vivian actively bridges the gap between school and church by maintaining a bulletin board at the church with classroom updates. She also coordinates outreach programs such as Operation Christmas Child and Operation Red Barrel.
Vivian continually seeks innovation in classroom technology, which is displayed in her use of webcams to connect to other classrooms thousands of miles away. She offers free tutoring and has been recognized by other schools for her excellent curriculum and teaching skills. In addition to a parent newsletter, Vivian also hosts welcoming open houses in her classroom, where student’s work is showcased.
“Since joining the staff, her influence is felt not only in the lives of students in her classroom, but the school in general,” said Mission Hills Co-Chairman Elder John Bechtel. “It spills over into the lives of the church as well.”
Principal Albert J. Beierle said Vivian is a change agent for good, and due to her efforts, non-Adventist families have become some of the school’s strongest supporters and potential church members.
Award presentation was Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Fremont Seventh-day Adventist Church.AAF Chairman Bob Summerour presented the award to Vivian. Visit our Photo Gallery for more coverage of the award presentation.
